Imagine over 500 colourful hot air balloons rising up at dawn over the New Mexico landscape… there's truly nothing like it. The place to experience it is each October at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Spectators and balloon pilots from all over the world gather (some even camping in their caravans) to watch the mass ascensions held in the mornings, and night events like the 'glowdeo'. Music stages are set up during the day and performers stroll through the festival crowds, which can number 750,000 people.

I've attended the balloon festival on three different occasions. Each time was amazing! The event is very organized and the grounds are easy to navigate. The balloons are spectacular! Love the mass ascension and the night glow. The balloon owners/workers are very friendly. They engaged...More

Planned to purchase a ticket the day before based on weather so used website. I couldn't make sense of any major difference between general admission, Chasers Club or Gondola Club. I purchased Chasers Club because of guaranteed seating and a parking pass so I wouldn't...More

I had seen balloons before but watching over 200 take off followed by 200 more surpasses anything. The best part is you are right next to the balloons taking off. Always plan gor two or three days. If you are lucky, weather will not cause...More

I was amazed the first time I went to Ballloon Fiesta in 1998 before moving to Albuquerque. Except that we had to wake up quite early - 4am, the sight at the site was great. Since moving here, I have been to the Fiesta at...More

If you can go, go. Most people will tell you its dependent on the weather.. specifically wind speed & direction. And if you can swing it at least go down to the fair grounds one morning and see the balloons up close and personal. Its...More
