Easy access from Mindo. Beautiful forest with fantastic birds. We saw a male Golden-headed Queztal, several tanagers and Red-headed Barbet. I can walk around there all day long. A Must-do for birders.

Several miles out of Mindo and accessed by a bumpy dirt road, is the tarabita which takes one to the trail heads for several waterfalls. The metal cage is suspended from a cable around 150 meters above the ground. The views above the cloud forest...More

We enjoyed hiking down to Nambillo falls. We did not hike to any of the other falls. The ride across the valley on the cable car was fun/scary all at the same time. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to hike back up...More

We were not required or advised to get the yellow fever vaccine. I would recommend bug spray though (without CFCs), especially if you will be hiking.

Sorry. We are a mature couple. We visited Mindo without a guide. Sorted ourselves out once there and didn't feel we needed a guide. Hopped on a bus in Quito and stayed for 4 days. Loved it. Hope you do.
