We took a public bus and taxi from our cruise ship to the beach (Praia das Pedras Miudas). There we rented a two person kayak. We stored our street clothes in a secure area at the kayak rental place. We kayaked 200 feet (60 m) to and then around Cabras Island (but did not land on it). We tied our kayak to a buoy and went snorkeling for about 45 minutes. We did not see very much (no coral, few fish), so were disappointed. We could see many boats with scuba divers. We also saw many other snorkelers. The water was about 86 F / 30 C, so no wet suit is required. On the beach to dry off, we were not bothered by bugs (we had been warned that the bugs are bad here on this island).

We took a cooler, some beers, one speaker and made it a great time.

There is some tables and chairs so you can also do a picnic.

This is a good place for divers and snorkelers. The island itself is private, but there is a nice small beach opposite the island from which you can dive or snorkel. There is also a good dive shop. The water is clear when the current is running from the south (where the ocean is), less clear when the current is running from the north. However, even in less clear days one can see a lot of marine life around the island - many species of fish, crabs, shrimps and the occasional turtle.

Nice beach to stay and swim. Great for snorkelling. Strong current at noon, so we couldn't cross the sea to the other side.

Inexpensive and convenient snorkeling gear rental. The beach is very small and crowded, and it's hard to get a parking spot. My 9 yr old daughter and husband had a great time snorkeling even on a cloudy day.

Cabras Island is a great spot for you to dive. You can go to Narwhal on Pereque beach and arrange your diving trip. They have a nice boat, are a Padi dive center and would be able to help you dive even if you are not a certified diver. They handle the discovery program that would amaze you.

If you are a diver, Ilha das Cabras is one of the main dive spots in Ilhabela. It is a shallow dive, but rich in life and you can easily find a diversity of fish, and if you are lucky even see the sea turtles. There is a Neptune statue about 7 meters underwater.

This is a great place to get some hours underwater. It has plenty of life. Fish, corals, sponges, crabs, shrimp, and even turtles! I bring my son here when we visit the island.

We went snorkeling around de island and it was amazing, we were able to sea lots of fishes. It is not possible to enter the islands because it's a private property... Although there is a boat trip around it the seems quite amusing with reasonable pricing.
The beach is quite small and not very clean.
