Of course, in Tarija you need to try the Bolivian wine: We opted for the more expensive Ruta 4 with Vivo Tours (the most reputable agency, according to the guide book and also out hotel staff), to be sure to have some nice wine tasting...More

We went there during our ruta-del-vino-tour by vivatours. We didn't eat in la casa vieja so my review is concerning the bodega-visit, wine-tasting and wines of the bodega, not the restaurant. We didn't get any information about the bodega. Then we stayed in a circle...More

It's a nice place, we didn't want to drink with the tours because they often have you drinking fast and a lot. We came around five in the afternoon and in low season so it was not a lot of people and the wine yards...More

You can use a tour company to go to this winery as well as a few others. It makes for a very fun day. The wine isn't the bed, but it is cool to visit the highest wineries in the world!

The porch of casa vieja offers beautiful views of the vines backed by the shadowy outlines of the mountains. Our group also enjoyed the pollo picante and saice dishes served there, but if you're looking for high quality wine, Casa Vieja was not our favorite....More

It was here we discovered Pattaro, homemade Bolivian sweet wine. It is lovely but don't make the mistake thinking it will taste like wine. I can only describe it like sherry with a lot of sugar! It tastes way better than that sounds.

I really liked this place for the aesthetics - it's mud rubbed walls, hanging vines, a lady cooking over an open fire and then a dining area sheltered with a roof and with an open air view of a vineyard. The place does get slammed...More
