Customer service was lacking. Entered the store, we were simply looked at, no greeting, no suggestions. No product history, no sampling...it was a strange experience. Hardly anything on the shelf. Sat outside and had a sampler tray...after we asked if such a thing existed. Good beer. Bad service.

The service and atmosphere is great. Very enjoyable place to stop for a beer or any of their other products. I highly recommend it if visiting Liverpool. The beer is excellent.

We stopped in last weekend for a beer tasting after lunch and started checking out the beer they have. The girl working was really nice. She let us sample the beer first to see what we liked and then my husband got a flight of 3 for $6.00 and I got a pint of the Tannen Bomb.
The Tannen Bomb was a true Pilsner; very light, crisp, and easy to drink!
With the flight we had the Pepper in the Rye, which was a perfect fall beer with a nippy taste to it. Not bad. The Grapefruit Raddler was fresh and only had a hint of a grapefruit taste to it which was nice. Sometimes the grapefruit can be overpowering in a Raddler. The other one my husband had was the Oatmeal Pale Ale, which surprisingly was his favorite. He said it was a great light beer and was the perfect drink. We also tasted the Holy Chipotle and decided against doing it in the flight because it was so strong! Such a punch in the mouth taste, that was just too much for us.
This place was nice, with growlers from other local breweries along the one wall, but it had a kind of cold feeling to it? I don't know, it just wasn't as inviting as some of the other breweries we stopped in at on our way through Nova Scotia, so giving it a 4/5 star.

Hell Bay have exceptionally good beers, really outstanding and tasty!
Bonnie was a great host at the pub. Must-do when in Liverpool and fan of craft beer.

Was visiting family in Liverpool so stopped by to try some local craft beer. You can get a sampler board of 5 different kinds and I recall at the time there were about 9 to choose from. Of the beers I chose to sample there was only 1 that I didn’t care for. But that’s the beauty of samplers, try them all and find out what you like. There was seating inside as well as on the patio. It was quiet when we were there, next time I would go when they have live music.

I would have liked to try their beer but it was a really hot day and the large crew of 20 somethings overwhelmed the small staff who did not seem too friendly so I decided to leave, definitely not a good first impression to make by them for a dedicated craft beer officianto.
Another negative is that the NSLC does not carry local craft beer in their stores like neighboring NB does! I went to 3 stores and none had anything... Nova Scotia is way behind the times for not carrying local beers and very little cold beer at all. :(

Doesn't look much from outside but it's what's inside that's important. We had a flight of six samples, English ale being the best, I liked the oatmeal, some natural citrus in it, not too much. The cream ale was more of a mild, dark and less consistency than a cream but still tasty. Forgot my growlers, left in kitchen sink draining, had to buy one. All told 64oz plus the flight was 28 bucks, 8 was deposit. Disappointingly, wanted English ale but keg blew so no more on tap, got the oatmeal, all gone by end of weekend, nom nom. Will be back

Stopped by while exploring the south shore. The fellow that came out when I was looking around was very nice, showed me what he had to take home, we spoke briefly about the local craft breweries and he gave me a "passport" showcasing the many places to visit with spirits as the theme. The dark cream ale is so good, coffee and chocolate flavors and such a creamy texture. Next visit to NS, this is a definite stop.

It wasn’t very busy on a Saturday afternoon and when we arrived, we were the only ones there. I checked out the beers in their website so I knew what ones I wanted to try but they were all different beers that than what they had available.

One of the beers was coming out of the tap murky so they grabbed a bottle from out back but it was mislabeled.

There’s no food there except for basic snacks like chips. They do have some merchandise for sale.

The pub itself is pretty rustic and they played fiddle music the whole time (not a fan). They did have a cribbage board and a deck of cards.

The location is just off the Main Street. There is a row of parking spots but they were all full. Not sure why as there was no one inside.
