Don't get me wrong, the trees are very nice but they pale in comparison to the giant sequoias we saw at Sequoia National Park. We arrived about 11:00 am only to find that we were forced to park about one mile from the enterance. The...More

We reserved shuttle passes from Pohono park and ride it was very easy, and even though we had a 10:30-11:00 reservation we got on a 10:15 shuttle, so I assume it’s kind of first come first served which makes it less complicated. Also very easy...More

Truly left us speechless. One of true natural wonders of our planet. One word of advice -- make sure to buy parking online before you go. I didn't read up enough, and so didn't, and got there and found out that without it I couldn't...More

Visited on 9/24/2018 (Monday): Reserved a parking spot and purchased tickets online ahead of time so when we showed up they gave us a parking spot immediately and then when we went to the entrance we showed our tickets and we walked right in. Muir...More

I absolutely adore Muir Woods. The trees are enchanting and provide a sense of peace. The path to the park provides breathtaking views of the park prior to entering. The park itself is well maintained with knowledgeable staff and clear paths. I highly recommend to...More

Make sure to reserve a spot for your car. The day we visited the lot wasn't crowded so they let us park early, they almost turned us away. The walk is very peaceful. Bring a light jacket as the sun is blocked out for much...More

Our group rented a car then traveled to Muir Woods. If you get a car you need to reserve your parking ticket before you arrive. If you don’t the walk to get to the woods is 3-4 miles. To get this reservation just go to...More

What a beautiful, historic, quiet place to visit. Away from the big city bustle. We totally enjoyed our couple of hours in the park. Wish we'd had a little more time on the tour we took, but overall we got a sense of the majestic...More

Sorry, we took the shuttle, which I highly recommend! It's a windy 2-lane road. It was nice to enjoy the view and not worry about the driving.

I'm not sure what time the ticket booth opens. Yes, you could probably go in without paying. The problem is parking. The ONLY place there is to park belongs to the facility. And you MUST have a reservation. Good luck.
