It's a surpise to stumble onto Sierra Nevada considering it is located on the southernmost portion of Europe. Even while beach goers can enjoy the warm balmy days at the beach, there can be lots of snow on Top of Sierra Nevada which makes for a nice contrast.
It is great for skiers looking to enjoy the Andalucian ambiance while on holiday. There are hotels with spas, and walking tours using snow shoes, etc. You can take the cable car to the top and enjoy a nice meal as well. If you're not going to be skiing, than a few days is probably the correct duration for a trip, and simply enjoy being in Andalucia with the snow..
