From up on the crater you will have a marvellous view over the surrounding area and the lavafield in which the hotel is situated. Absolut must stop.

Ca. 35 km north of Borgarnes right along Ring road no. 1, close to Glanni waterfall. If you have time you have to hike up to the crater to see inside the crater and the magnificent view from the top.

The views are well worth the walk to the crater. The walk itself isn't particularly hard. There is a small car park.

Amazing views at the top, worth all the steps getting up there. It was great to see the tops of the craters. If you have the physical strength to walk up there then it's worth doing.

Very nicely maintained stairs all the way up and around the crater. There are a lot of steps to get to the top, but well worth it to see the views. We stood and watched a sheep dog corralling a small flock of sheep down...More

The parking lot has some information boards about the crater that are nice and informative. Parking and the walk up were both free. We went before 10AM so not crowded which was nice. Although there are nice wooden steps with landings for brief rests and...More

This geographical feature is right by the NI Ring Road and is well worth stopping at if you have 45 minutes to spare. Wooden steps have made the ascent easy to do in 15 - 20 mins and it takes no more than another 15...More

The walk up the steps of this Crater is well worth it. The path up is well built low steps which are easy to walk up. One can then walk around the whole crater also. A nice experience in the area.

Newly constructed steps make the ascent easy. Did with my 3 yr old hiking and 1 yr old strapped to me. Really great views all along the way and around the crater top. Went at 6pm only a couple people there. Great panoramic views/pictures!

We came across Grabrok Crater after a days drive around Snaesfellsness on our way back to our holiday cottage, and decided to keep it in mind to fill a few minutes another day. A couple of days later we were filling those few minutes, which...More

Sorry, it was dry when we climbed the steps. Not sure how safe the paths around the crater would be.

If you had experience with a crater, don't bother, its an ordinary crater with no water. Otherwise its worthwhile to see if you had never seen a crater before. But be very careful in Iceland especially in winter. The... More
