Magnificent adventure scheduled by Salmon Berry tours. Our guide, John, picked us up at the assigned time and as he drove to Seavey kennels, he gave us history of dog mushing in general, the Iditarod race, care of animals and overall grueling race. We chatted about raising dogs and training these dogs. Once at the base camp, Leddy and Elliot took over. Discussed safety around the dogs, interacting with them, more stories about the RACE. How to stop/steer the sleds was explained very thoroughly...don't let go/hang on to the sled was the mantra of the day ! Actually riding and guiding the sled was magnificent and challenging. Trip of a lifetime, adventure of a lifetime. If you're planning to mush dogs, do it with the best, 5X Iditarod champion and his amazing support staff. All thru the day, John filled in more stories and was trully knowledgeable about the ins/outs of this tour.

What an awesome experience! So thankful to have the opportunity to visit the Seavey Sterling location. Laura was our guide and she did an incredible job! Personable, kind, knowledgeable and seemed to really enjoy what she was doing. Shared her time and knowledge as we went on a 5 mile ride. The dogs were vibrating with joy and excitement. So glad we made the time to enjoy this! Thank you!

This was an experience of a lifetime. Although we came in off-season, Lara was the most professional and motivating Musher. From the time she met up with us, took us for a ride with the dogs and ended the tour with the puppies, we had a blast. We hope someday to see her as Iditarod champion. Such a great experience!

Our guide was exceptional, knowledgeable and courteous. We had an indepth tour of the kennels where we greeted dogs and played with puppies. We mushed our own four dog teams through a beautiful landscape of fall leaves. All dogs were well socialized, friendly and loved to be petted.

I would highly recommend visiting Seavey’s when in Seward. It was one of our favorite things! It is a great family owned establishment that takes great care of their dogs. It was very interesting to learn about the Iditarod and just witness how much the dogs really love to do what they do. Everyone was very kind and you weren’t rushed around. You had ample time to visit and meet the dogs that took you on your ride and of course the highlight was being able to hold the sweet puppies!
