We stayed very close to the downtown where the royal footsteps are located. There are plenty of shopping stores, coffee shops, both low end and high end luxury resorts. If you come to Kona you will need to walk here.

Fabulous rental in a quiet neighborhood close to the beaches and close to town but up the mountain 1000 feet where the temperature is always perfect.

If you go to Kona, you're probably going along this drive. Comfortable, informal combination of small, old, maybe ramshackle houses, with luxury mansions, luxury resorts, family beaches, local surfers, lots of rock walls that have been there, it looks like, longer than the town.
