The cable car ride is superb. The views of the houses as you go up, and then the mountains and lake are gorgeous. Numerous hiking trails lead off the summit. The cafe near the peak offers lovely views, beer and food. Definitely worth a visit...More

On a clear day, this is a must! Amazing view of surrounding mountain peaks and lakes. Visitors should also do the circular trail. It's easy, showing more mountain peaks.

Took the cable car as the railway on the other side was a little cloudy at the top. Pleased we did because the weather gods were smiling on this side of the lake and the views were amazing. €26 round trip and takes about 20...More

We chose a warm day with amazing clear views. It was the weekend and the Cable Car was busy with about half an hour queue at 11.00 though there was no queue when we got back down at 2.00. We walked up to the very...More

Yes we waited half hour to get into the cable car but it's so worth the wait once you get to the top for the views!

Visited however very overcast. A return trip is quite expensive. The cogwheel train is a longer and more cost affective option. Few were queuing for a ride.

It’s pricey and the queues are long (we were best part of an hour - beware it doesn’t look long from the ticket desk but you will be 3/4 he at least from here. There are toilets). However it’s worth it to get the cable...More

We took the long and extremely beautiful cable cart ride to the top of the mountain above Sankt Gilgen. I can’t explain how amazing the view is, and it is unraveling itself bit by beautiful bit as you go higher and higher. We took a...More

Great experience, worth being there, good for hiking up the mountain where the air is so clean and where you can enjoy the breathtaking view.

There is a hiking route from St Gilgen to the top of the Zwoelferhorn. The total ascent is around 900m and length around 3km so it is a decent walk uphill and a fairly steep gradient.

If you're reaching up even at 3 pm and if you enjoy the views in minimal time, in my opinion it might be too late to start hiking down at that time. I am no expert so recommend wait and see what a local expert would say... More
