Clean water, dramatic boulders lining the small lake, people enjoying themselves, easy hike--a good warm-up for hiking further into the park. Just feels right!

Very beautiful area! Take some time to hike around and do some climbing. The lodge is a good stop as well.

This lake and surrounding area are so beautiful that we commented to each other how it almost looked Disney-like or unreal. Fishing, hiking, swimming, or just sitting are all good ideas here.

Wonderful lake surrounded by rocks. You can hike around it and it is really easy and not too long (I wore my sandals and made it). Beautiful and tranquill spot.

This was a nice surprise during our ride through Needles Highway. Gorgeous lake where you can get out and stretch, have a bite to eat or have a bathroom break.

We loved visiting the Sylvan Lake area. My family rented kayaks and had a great time on the lake. Wish we had more time to spend there.

We hiked around it is all that we did. There was so much to do. People were fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and swimming at the swim beach.

$20 for a day pass! Not too sure on dogs? I believe you can’t have them on the beach, but I would check the Custer State Park website. 🙂

It’s very general. There are good grocery stores in Rapid City, Hill City, and Custer. Load up on what you need before you get to Sylvan.
