My husband and I spent several days in Gettysburg exploring! The Shriver House Museum was fascinating; the tour guides wear "period clothes," there's a video on the unique finds when the house was restored in the 1990's, a civilian family lived here and their tale...More

The tour guide was wonderful and his voice was easily heard while the tour was going on. My husband and I got so used to the ghost tours that we've never tried a different kind. This was TOTALLY worth it! It was actually more interesting...More

RayV555, thank you for taking the time to review the Shriver House. The Shrivers' story is extraordinary, but it is moving to think this is just one story from one family who lived through the horrors of July, 1863 in Gettysburg. Thank you.

Had a great tour of the house. Just like it was during the Civil War even with the attic where the Confederates stayed in the house. Nice guide in costume and the gift shop was reasonable.

Thank you, Donald, for taking the time to review your visit. Seeing the house the way it was and understanding the Shrivers' story goes a long way to understand how all the townspeople were affected by the fighting. Please stop in again!

Visiting this museum was like taking a step back in time. You experience what you or your family would have endured during the Civil War, in the small town of Gettysburg. Our guide was very informative, and the trip up to the attic was my...More

So glad you enjoyed the tour. Yes, it is amazing to stand in the attic where Confederate sharpshooters set up a snipers' nest and eyewitnesses confirm at least two soldiers were killed. We take great pride in preserving the house and their story. Thank you.

Guides in period dress take you through the home and explain what happened during the battle. It is very entertaining and informative. I enjoyed visiting the attic where the rebel snipers hid, and were eventually killed themselves, by Union sharpshooters.

Brian, we are so glad you came for a tour of the Shriver House to learn about the fighting from a different perspective - that of the civilians caught in the middle of the crossfire. Thank you.

Guides in period costume take visitors on a 30 minute tour of this restored and renovated Civil War House. The story of the Shriver Family is discussed, along with the fate of the house itself during the Battle of Gettysburg.

There is except for the attic. It isn't very strong, so if it's an especially warm day, be prepared.
