Neighbourhood: Greenwich Village
Commonly known as “the Village” to New Yorkers, it was here in Greenwich Village that both 1960’s counter culture and the LGBT movement were born. Famous for its bohemian past, head to Washington Square Park to get a feel for this diverse and energetic neighbourhood. You’ll find NYU students, street performers, skateboarders, kids frolicking in the fountain, and locals relaxing and playing chess. Stroll the streets to discover a mix of majestic town homes and hidden bars and restaurants that give this neighbourhood an old-school residential feel. When the sun goes down, check out one of the famous jazz or comedy clubs that still packs them in every night.

It is a perfect place to walk, run, or bike along on a sunny day. It is full of piers with great views of the Manhattan skyline, New Jersey, and even the Statue of Liberty and Ellis IslandVisited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 31 March 2024

It was well marked and with such great sites and plants all around. You can tell locals use it to commute as we were mostly the slowest on the path but we never felt unsafe or out of place.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 June 2024

Enjoyed by locals and tourists alike, it's 4 miles (that further connect to more park areas) of sunbathing, tennis, pickleball, restaurants, biking, and more. A fantastic way to have a relaxing day in New York City.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 June 2024

It runs along the Hudson River and links up many important neighborhoods. You can take a short walk or a very long one, all good. Great views. You will see a lot of people using the park.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 August 2024

With us visiting within what we’ve been told is the “hottest heatwave in NYC since 2013” whilst out and about any opportunity to find air conditioning or a breeze has certainly been an option we’ve taken.
Having strolled a fair way along The High Line we spotted Hudson River Park and decided to drop down and stroll along the river for the views and the breeze.
The park itself is lovely with a nice green feeling to it, the breeze off of the Hudson taking some of the heat out of the sun and making things that much more bearable.
With the “Little Island” in the area we also popped over to have a look. Certainly a visit we would make again in the future.

This is an absolute gem. During our stay we returned again and again because it is such a good place to hike with terrific views of Jersey, the River, and Manhattan. You will pass lots of cool neighborhoods where you can always get good coffee and good food. A huge improvement on the waterfront.

Absolutely wonderful place to hangout. Everything available to a family including bathrooms. Enjoy private volleyball courts, grab a meal on the Grand Banks boat, children playgrounds, dog park or grab a chair and book and hangout under the shade at the end of the pier. I could spend the entire day here.

An absolute gem in New York City. I love picking up dinner and eating by the water front while watching the sunset. There's an awesome kayaking off the pier. A great bike lane to bike up and down the river. Lots of restaurants and shops just a few blocks away. Plenty of spots to stop and play or work out, or just sit and relax.

We walked along the river basically from the southern tip of Manhattan to 45th Street. Nice views, good river access the entire length. Plenty of benches to rest on, playgrounds for the kids, food and drink for all ages, a carousel, minigolf, soccer, basketball, dog parks, skate park, etc, etc, etc

I walked along this park briefly to get to pier 66 and it is so beautiful. You have view of the Hudson River, Hudson Yards, Chelsea, the Freedom Tower, there are so many piers that you can explore, it is great! The park is beautiful, has tons of flowers, and provides much needed shade on a sunny day. I highly recommend!

This is a new linear park along the river. An extraordinary place to take a long walk because there is so much to see: The river, the landscaping, the great skyline, which keeps growing. This is one of the best places in Manhattan, they were so smart to reclaim the riverfront and make it available to the people.
