The horse carriages are extremely expensive and we had better time just walking around. Lots of little stands to get drinks, ice creams and hot dogs etc.Visited April 2023Written 18 April 2023
- Kate GNhulunbuy, Australia190 contributionsPeaceful and beautifulWe loved Central Park. We didn’t use a horse and carriage as quite $$$ but if you had money a lovely way to explore. We entered from the south and walked to the Dakota building on the edge of the western side, where John Lennon lived and died. Stunning building. Then to the John Lennon memorial. We grabbed a hotdog along the way. So many squirrels, tress in blossom and just quiet and calmness. Stunning historical building all along the edge of the park. Ended at the zoo. It’s huge , we barely saw a quarter of the park. A bike would be good. If good weather a perfect place for a picnicVisited April 2023Written 22 April 2023
- SylofQCLaval, Canada94 contributionsMust visit in NYCWe rented a tandem to bike around and stopped at various place near the lake, Bethesda plaza and see the cherry tree blossom. It is very refreshing to see that kind of oasis in a never sleeping city like NYC. Walk, run or bike, but go enjoy!Visited April 2023Written 24 April 2023
- tropnevad6878 contributionsAmazing and so big!We visited Central Park a number of times during our Easter stay and realised just how massive it is. We explored the southern end a few times and it has so many different parts to it. We took a subway to visit the upper part including reservoir. Such contrast to the rest of the cityVisited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 April 2023
- Jolie JGatineau, Canada308 contributionsApril Cherry BlossomsI went in early April and most of the cherry blossoms were at full bloom and incredibly beautiful. It was my first time in NYC and I decided to reserve a full day to Central Park as it's huge and I wanted to see most of the highlights. I had about 27 stops that I wanted to see, many of which were close together. I started my day at around 10h30am, from Grand Army Plaza area, and ended at around 4h30pm, back to around the same area (I put all the points I wanted to see on a google map and did a loop around the whole park). My favorite highlights were: Bethesda terrace & fountain, sitting by water at Loeb boathouse, seeing all the turtles in the water close to Bow Bridge, Conservatory Water area, The Egyptian Obelisk and Belvedere Castle.Visited April 2023Written 26 April 2023
- Susan S4 contributionsCalm... Central ParkCentral Park does not disappoint. While walking around and thru it for a couple of hours, I can see why New Yorkers love their park! My favorite part was the angel fountain, Bethesda Fountain. There was music being played, the sun was out, the gorgeous fountain was flowing, and it was so calm and serene, even with many people enjoying it. I even saw a bride in her dress, with her groom, having photos taken. My husband loved the Strawberry Fields area in tribute to the late, great, John Lennon. Though outside the park is New York's hustle and bustle, inside the park is a whole different world. Even the squirrels are friendly. It truly is a beautiful place! It's a "must see" to me!Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 April 2023
- Clifford SilviseMiami, Florida4 contributionsA Serene Escape in the Heart of NYCCentral Park is an oasis of green in the heart of the bustling metropolis of New York City. Strolling through its winding paths and beautiful gardens is a welcome respite from the noise and crowds of the city. The park offers so many activities, including boating, horseback riding, and even ice skating in the winter months. The many fountains, sculptures, and bridges scattered throughout the park make it a photographer's dream. Whether you want to relax and read a book or take a jog around the reservoir, Central Park has something for everyone. It's a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to New York City.Visited April 2023Written 30 April 2023
- dereksantiagoMadison, Alabama244 contributionsBicycle Taxi at Central ParkWe took the Taxi bicycle bc we only had a few hours planned for the park. It was $125 for 2 or 3 people for one hour. This does not include the tip. Most of the drivers are foreigners. They try to explain the best they can but just tell them to let you read their folder with pictures. They show you all the sites. If you negotiate with them you can get it lower and they can take you to your hotel or to the closest subway. It’s 2 miles to go around the park. You can walk or rent a bike. They also have Pickleball if your a player.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 May 2023

We were staying in NYC (this time) December 22, 2023 to January 1, 2024. On this visit we were here twice since we were an easy walk away from the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood where we were staying. We were also here in 2008, when we attended a wonderful outdoor concert in the park, and also walked the full length of the park, visited Strawberry Fields and other memorable highlights.
This visit being around Christmas time, we visited the Christmas village shopping at the south end of the park. We also dined at The Tavern On The Green located in the park. It is so beautiful to walk around the park in the midst of the huge noisy city. It has been said that Central Park are the lungs of NYC. Without this park NYC would be more ugly and much less enjoyable. It is a beautiful place to escape. Visit here and indulge yourself, learn the history. Did you know a large portion of the park was once a sheep meadow? I do understand that some people had a poor experience visiting here (by reading some of the negative reviews), but I see that as nitpicking. This park has so much to offer.

A New Yorker described the subway as the arteries of the New York and Central Park as it's lungs. What a magnificent 'set of lungs' it is. We hired bicycles and spent a day riding around the park, stopping and exploring whatever captured our attention. The autumn colors were sublimely beautiful. A memorable day.

Lively people. Happy kids. Beautiful skyline. Chirpy horses. Classic carriages. Fun vendors. Long lines too. But all worth it.

Central Park is an amazing escape from the business of the city. There are many walking, running, biking paths. You can explore for a short time or an entire day if you want to make the most of it. We have visited in every season and it's beautiful no matter what.

One can never get enough of Central Park - there’s just too much to do and see. My advice is to target different sections of it on each visit. This time, we entered through the 5th and 79th entrance, did the Bethesda Terrace, Conservatory, Alice in Wonderland, Mall and exited from the zoo side. We went around 8:30 am and it wasn’t too crowded. Plenty of dog walkers made our relatively short walk even more enjoyable.
My advice is to carry a map of the park, so you can cover the points that interest you specifically, else it’s easy to get lost.

Carriage ride around the park with historical narration is a must. We were dropped near imagine area at Strawberry Fields then walked to the Museum of Natural Science. Enjoy a dog, slice or spiced nuts along the way. Great day!

The city needs its green lung, a great place to visit, exercise, and for visitors from UK missing their own dogs to get their doggy fix! Also a great place to meet the best fed squirrels and sparrows on the planet. Downside is far too many peddlers hawking tat, horse and buggy rides and worst of all the bicycle rickshaws charging $8 per minute to deafen punters with Felice Navidad or some obscure rock music. Absolutely love this place and will come back soon!

Central Park is lovely, even in winter. We enjoyed the ride through the park, hearing some interesting views, and especially enjoyed the very short stop at the John Lennon Memorial site. Would have liked more time there.
Paid a huge amount at street vendors for some nuts, but enjoyed feeding the little squirrels and birds. Highlight of the day!

You can use the city bikes, there are a lot of drop site but you need to install an app on your smart phone. Otherwise there is also that place near the southern part of Central Park : bike rental central park
Only one question.
WHY Shakespeare monument is inscribed at the back of the base not at the front???
Monument is located at the Literary Walk.
Thanks!

hi,
Central Pak is very easy to find; there's à lot of entrance all around the park. You can choose one of the entrance located along 5th avenue. But, the best way to enter the park is at columbus circle. Central park start at 59th street(south and finish at 110th street(north). The most touristic part off the park is located beetween 59th et 79th street.
Hope It will help us

There were beautiful flowers throughout our walk. It’s hard to say where exactly you can find the best. I did find help with workers who drive around in carts. They can tell you where the best spots are.

Central park is 10 minutes by foot! But it depends to which place at central park you wanna go because the park is so so so so big! Otherwise, you can take the C (blue) line to UPTOWN & QUEENS. One good station for the centre of central park is 81 street - museum of natural history. Have a nice day.
