What a wonderful little town! You get to relive the history of San Diego in addition to doing some wonderful shopping of local merchants. Beautiful things to buy that are handmade in Mexico. And the Mexican restaurant that I ate that was spectacular! Do not miss a trip to old town.

Such a cool town. Lots of shops and restaurants, Historic sites and even a play area for the little ones. It's like stepping back in time. Easy to walk and free parking just a block from the center of town. They have a vendor market on Saturday's.

Old fashioned tourist trap. Lots of fun things to do, surrounded by places selling margaritas! Fun stores to shop in and lots of sites to see.

Old town is a must when visiting San Diego. Rich with Mexican culture. The music and food were excellent.
Lots of little shops and novelty stores. Colorful and fun . A quick trolley ride away from downtown .

Took the Old Town bus tour around San Diego- saw the highlights including Hotel Del Cornado. This is the best bargain going. You can hop on and off at the various locations with no additional cost. In Old Town lots of shops and restaurants to pick from. People are super nice and friendly. Definitely a must do while in San Diego.

Very interesting neighborhood, all reflected as in the old days - you can feel the spirit of this place. You have to visit all the houses one by one and take a walk along the neighboring streets. At the weekend it can be difficult to find a parking space in the immediate vicinity.

We really liked Old Town and are glad we went. The food was really good. The architecture - esp the church - was really interesting. Historical spots were cool. I only wish it was a more authentic experience and that the stores were less touristy. There is so much to learn about the heritage - I would have liked to have more opportunities to explore that.
Shout out to the magic shop - my son learned some new card tricks that he still uses!

We enjoyed a couple of hours in Old Town, particularly lunch at Hungry's, a drink at Casa de Maria (really enjoyed the woman singing there) and also the old cemetery which is about a block away from the main area. It can be a bit crowded and also another parking challenge (avoid a parking garage in the area that will leave you in a dead end and forced to pull an Austin Powers maneuver to get the hell out of there). Overall ok (somewhere between average to good/very good), so I'm being a bit generous on my rating.

Some people rave about Old Town. I don't know why. We enjoyed our time there and DO think it is a necessary thing to see when visiting San Diego. But I am not at all goo-goo, gah-gah about it.

There's shops, places to eat, and historic buildings in Old Town. Most of the buildings were closed (probably due to Covid). I bought a nice Christmas ornament in one of the shops, and we found a nice place to get ice cream. We were there during the day on a week day so it wasn't very crowded.

Is there a charge for parking or where is the best place to park

If you want to park for free, I’d recommend parking at the Old Own Transit Center. From there, Old Town is a 5 minute walk.

The day of the dead celebrations are due to take place on 2nd November. How long before this date will the displays and decorations be displayed. I will be in San Diago from 24 to 26 October and would love to see this celebration.

I see Old Town is open on Sundays, but are the little shops and kiosks open as well? I'm wondering if I should squeeze it into my Saturday to make sure my family gets the full experience. I've been here but I believe it was a week night.

On the southwest side of the square there is a store with Asian things that might have it. They have incense and stones & gems out front usually.
