I started in Boston Common at the Information Center, Boston Common was a pleasant open park with lots of holiday lights and places to sight see (window shop in the stores and read about the famous churches and buildings along the periphery), I followed the 2-3 mile red brick pathway (thinking that it was a little like following the yellow brick road to see the Wizard of Oz) that led to many historically important sites (houses, cemeteries, churches, gathering places, an important ship, Bunker Hill) and stopped at each site to read the one paragraph explanation that I had downloaded from the information center shop website, and I took a 10 minute diversion to Monica's Mercado for a sub sandwich (really great subs). This was a really enjoyable way to spend a few hours in Boston (I was there to pick up my son from Logan Airport and we were staying overnight before returning to the Tristate area).

Amazing history along the freedom trail. Very helpful people along the path. A lot of stopping and side trips off the way. The path is shut down in a lot of places due to construction and had to find the trail again. Don’t listen to the cute park ranger he sent us 30 mins out of our way while we looked for the trail again.

Follow the marks, and see around, good thing to discover Boston by walk. We spent maybe 2 hours to do the tour. Easy to do.
