Best exotic tropical fruit
Mar 2021 • Family
My friend recommended Frankies to find tropical fruit so we drove 45 minutes to the location. They had quite a good selection of in season fruit to choose from the highlight being the honey cream pineapple. We also got A ton of other fruit. The prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable of their products.

Better in the 'on' season
Jan 2020
Didn't want to give a low rating just because we're idiots and visited on the 'off' season. We drove up to Frankie's nursery and it was beautiful...but it was dead... and we got the impression we weren't really welcome or expected. Aside from that, staff were friendly, the dog was lovely, and the honey cream pineapple we bought was by far the best fruit we had on our entire trip. We also tried the honeycream pineapple juice and the guava juice...which looked a bit dodgy coming out of plastic buckets in a fridge...but they were DIVINE. Visit in the tourist season to make the trip worth it.

No tours available dropped my rating but excellent staff and fruit not available anywhere else.
Sep 2019
This was supposed to be the highlight of my trip to Hawaii but when I arrived I found out they no longer do tours due to problem tourists wasting and damaging. I wasn't even allowed to walk down the driveway out of the car. This was a crushing blow. I ended up spending 3 hours visiting with the staff and looking at what I could from the perimeter edges where they sell plants. The staff were wonderful to talk to and answered tons of questions. I enjoyed chatting with Frankie about grafting trees. They did have a wide variety of fruits that you cannot get anywhere else. I suggest taking pictures of the fruits in the baskets as they explain when they are ripe and how to eat them. Frankie's pineapple variety was the sweetest I tasted on the island. I suggest trying one of everything as you will not have the opportunity anywhere else.

The best pineapples
Dec 2018 • Friends
Although this is a working nursery, we went there for the Pineapples - they are smaller ( about the size of a baseball) but much sweeter and creamier. Apparently this is the only place you can get this particular pineapple. Worth the trip

Great selection!
Aug 2018 • Friends
There are a lot of fruits and plants here that you won't find elsewhere on the island! Yes, things are expensive, but if you like supporting a local business and are looking for something exotic/obscure, then this is the place for you!

Also I've been on a tour of this place before and it was a lot of fun!

Exotic fruits for sale.
Many beautiful fruit and flower trees for sale and look see.
Nice to see what the tree you are buying looks like when it is mature.

Overpriced...no competition in Oahu
Dec 2016 • Business
I just wish there were other nurseries that offered the same selection. They have a good amount of rare fruits, but the prices are extremely high. I feel like the owners have no desire to help spread the fruit trees around the island, and are just doing this solely for profit. I can only hope that there will be some ambitious young people willing to start their own nursery, and to be able to help spread the fruit trees around the island that will help liberate so many people in the near future. I feel like Frankie's strategy is very short-sighted and they rely mostly on tourists looking to explore exotic fruit. We really need some more Farmers now. The fact that they are charging $300 for a small grafted durian tree makes me sick.

Nice selection, Incredible views, Family run

We love Frankie's and it always turns into a family trip to the nursery. Tucked away on a back road in Waimanalo they have so much selection of fruit plants. Also usually have plenty of fresh fruit available. They give you lots of educational information as well.

Exotic Fruits. Frankie's is the place to go!
Jun 2015
If you want to taste exotic fruits, Frankie's is the place. Although you can visit year round to buy and sample exotic fruits, the best time to visit is from April-October. The other months have less variety due to seasonality. Summer time is the best to try all the types of lychee, mangoes and other exotics most people have never/heard of before. Most notably, they have the Meli Kalima pineapple hybridized by Frankie's. It's sweet and no acidic. Super ono! I think this would be a great place to go if you're cruising in the Kailua/Waimanalo area.
