Stunnning walk through the Akaka State Falls Park. I enjoyed the plants, the flowers, the atmosphere. The place is easy to find by car. You can drop by and stay there for an hour or more as you wish. Thereafter I went to the botanical...More

This was a really fun hike . I’m in my 60’s and was able to make this hike with no problems. What a beautiful experience👍

We stopped enroute to volcanos, and this ended up being the best part of our trip! It’s a great little stop which we almost skipped but I’m So glad we didn’t!

If you're on the belt road north side Big Island this lovely state park is only 15 minutes away. If you park just outside the gates you avoid the $5 parking fee, but then assume a $1/person walk-in fee. I recommend walking directly to the...More

It’s worth it. It’s exactly like the pictures and the hike is not a hike. But more of a paved walking experience. It will probably be raining. And not a light drizzle but full on raining. Bring a waterproof jacket of some sort and legit...More

A very interesting park with a well maintained sealed trail to the falls viewing area and amazing tropical palms, ferns, gingers and orchids. Entry is $5 per car or $1 per person. If you want to save a few dollars and can walk 80 m...More

Akaka is so beautiful! And a really easy walk to get there! If you park outside the gate you only need to pay $1 per person to visit the park. Parking is $5 but totally worth the extra donation to the park.

This is not a place to go swimming. There are 2 very high inaccessible waterfalls and streams. This is a great place for photos and to see tropical foliage.

We had two young kids with us and they did great on this short, yet beautiful hike. It's all paved, some stairs and railings. But it's a good taste of the jungle-like landscape out in Hilo, with large tropical plants looming above you. The kids...More

Beautiful Falls and gorgeous lush greenery and vegetation along the walk but it’s pretty simple. Worth seeing yes, but also we stayed over on the Waikoloa side and I’m not sure the long drive was worth it. We saw this and Rainbow falls the same...More

The easiest way to get around is to rent a car. The airport in Hilo has all the major car rental agencies. Akaka falls isn't too far from Hilo, maybe 10 miles or so. It really shouldn't take you more than 45 minutes to an... More
