After driving down long winding road we get to the church to find it is closed. We back tracked and stopped in Bay View Farms and had a nice visit and tour of coffee plants.

This church is known as the “painted church” because of a Belgian priest Father John Berchmans Velghe. Father John painted the interior of the church with 3D depictions from the bible and the lives of the saints, such as Cain's murder of Abel, Jesus refusing the Devil, and the writing on the wall, as well as a vivid illustration of sinners in Hell. The building itself is small and rectangular but had the the illusion of a European Gothic cathedral because of the painted Gothic vaults above the altar. A quiet, peaceful visit away from the hustle/bustle of the crowds. Every time I visit this church, I usually have it all to myself. No large tour buses. The views and breezes up on the hill are refreshing. A brief visit for photos and a walk about through the small garden & cemetery. Outside, there's a stand selling fruits & religious souvenirs. Either someone is manning the stand or there's an honor bucket where you can pay.…

Great place to visit. I drove there myself. No need to pay for a tour, unless you have no way to get there. The church is small, but very neat to see. They have an old cemetery next to the church, and some nice gardens to walk around. Great view of the ocean from the top.
