Brilliant Glass Display Bridge
Jun 2021
I love walking on this Bridge. I'm really surprised that the glass works haven't been vandalized or destroyed. It's just amazing to gaze at these wonderful pieces of glass art. Truly a must see.

Fun and free

We visited the Chihuly Bridge of Glass on the way to the Museum of Glass. I have been a Chihuly fan for many years and it was a wonderful way to see different pieces

Better than the museum
May 2021 • Couples
I suggest go to the bridge instead of the museum. It’s free, you will see a lot more glass work and you are not subjected to the homosexual exhibit.

Abundance of free beauty

With the Museum of Glass closed, I was just walking around the area towards the marina when I encountered this amazing bridge containing an abundance of Chihuly works. There is a seascape tunnel with colorful glass shell shapes supported above your head. It is similar to one you see in the expensive Chihuly Glass exhibit in Seattle Center. However, this version on the bridge is completely free! There are also some large sculptures that look like huge hyacinths made of blue agate! They look great with the modern curves of the museum building and are so eye catching as the sun shines through the glass. Finally there is a wall of glass jars. It’s wonderful- it is like a wall of Greek vases in a great museum yet each vase by Chihuly is fascinating to look at with its curves, tendrils and hints from nature. There are benches so you can just sit and take it in. Wonderful if you are a Chihuly fan!

Definitely see the bridge at night for added drama!
Oct 2019
If you are in Tacoma, definitely swing by and see the Chihuly Bridge of Glass - but take my recommendation and go when it is dark. The displays are so much more dramatic seeing them with the dark background and spotlights/lights, as opposed to daylight. It's a free walk, just next to the Courthouse and WA State History Museum, leading to the Tacoma Museum of Glass (I actually preferred the bridge displays to the ones inside the museum!). The ceiling exhibit is amazing and the wall of glass vases is unmatched (look for the many cherubs, then head into the glass museum to see video of how they are made). Don't go to Tacoma and miss this lovely walk!

A Nice Way to Start the Morning
Sep 2019
We were in the area on a Sunday morning so the the museum was not open but the walk over from our hotel (Holiday Inn Express) was quick and easy. Our itinerary did not allow for a long time before heading out for Port Townsend, so this was a perfect way to start the day. There were less than a dozen people along the way so it felt like a private showing. A leisurely walk, stop for coffee and time to admire the glass all only took about an hour. Well worth the time.

Beautiful! Even in the rain

Exhibits were lovely and there was a tutorial on how to make a glass ball. Very close to the Seattle space needle.
