All that beauty in so little area!!
Jul 2021
The northwest seems to have so many beautiful parks but from what we've seen this is one of the best. Beautiful drives and walking pathways. The Japanese garden was wonderful and serene... until the wedding reception started. :) The rose and other test gardens were delightful.

The flower gardens are so beautiful! Like being in beautiful woods but with well maintained trails and benches. Lovely views of Vashon Island.

Not the 2nd largest
May 2021 • Family
Point Defiance IS NOT the 2nd largest in the country. Not even in the top 10. Though it IS beautiful, it is only 760 acres.

Best park in Tacoma
Apr 2021 • Friends
If you want to get away and stay close this park has it. It was plenty of trails and beautiful gardens. It also has a zoo, aquarium and historic fort. This is a great day trip from Seattle.

Wear Your Walking Shoes!
Dec 2020 • Family
This was our first trip to this park and there was so much to see and do! Also, be prepared to spend a decent amount of time there & wear your walking shoes because the park is BIG! We had a blast and definitely plan to go back once the weather warms up!

Honestly after they build the pedestrian bridge that goes to Ruston by Vashon this place has become disgustingly cold

The garden is dreamy
Sep 2020
Before heading to dinner, we stopped at the botanical garden in Point Defiance Park. Thankfully for us, the flowers were all in full bloom, the weather was gorgeous, and this wonderful place is free!

There are rows and rows of amazing flowers that circle the gazebo in the center of the garden. Each row had amazing flowers of all colors, shapes, and sizes. There were flowers we got to see that we never knew existed before. The setting was extremely beautiful and relaxing. There were people sitting on blankets and reading or people watching. Also, a lot of photographers taking photos of girls. It seemed to be a buzzing spot. I mean that literally with bees too as they flew around pollinating the flowers.

While we were there, a few deer came out of nowhere and were near the garden. That was a fun surprise. I don't know what the seasonal months for the flowers are, but I hope you get to experience them when you go.

Spent most of our time at Owen Beach
Enjoy either a stroll on the board walk, or the pebble beach while watching the sail boats and kayaks.
Early morning is easy parking. Trails galore. If you plan to visit the zoo reserve your time slot ahead of time as restrictions are in place due to Covid-19.
All that the park has to offer takes much more than one day to see.
