Enjoyable Trail
Jun 2021
Great local paved trail. I have explored both on foot and by bike and it is a welcome traffic free way of dissecting Gig Harbor on a dedicated well marked, well laid out trail.

The hills will surprise a little. I have enjoyed walking them but confess I had to climb off my bike a couple of times as the gradient was too much. The trail is ridden by people of all ages and they seem to manage the hills fine. The gradient is undulating rather than long drawn out climbs.

Lovely safe walking/bike riding trail.

I live near the trail and frequently utilize it. It's not heavily traveled and users are careful about mask wearing.

Bike Trail

This trail is nicely paved and has enough hills to mix it up a bit! There are park benches for walkers and runners to stop and enjoy a quick rest or stretch. It has a painted center line to help keep traffic moving safely.

This is a good trail and I am happy that it is there, I do wish it was a bit more wooded though I feel strange walking through the bare spots that are adjacent to peoples back yards!

Paved and Beautiful

This wide, paved trail runs through forests and the length of town, and then some. We even used an extension of it to walk the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. It is well marked, with mile markers and indications of how steep the grade is. We had to walk our bikes up hill a couple of times.

Great for walks and bike rides

Gig Harborites love having the Cushman trail for walking/running/bike riding. It has a few big hills, but is an excellent trail for working out or just getting some fresh air. I have used it dozens of times without incident, but I would caution you if you park at one of the trailheads, that they tend to be targets for people who smash and grab items from the cars. I wouldn't leave anything of value in my car, and certainly wouldn't leave anything in plain sight

I love this trail so much I bought a house very close to it. It is a great use of right of way property and thanks GH and the utilities for partnering to make this a great out door resource for folks. The trail is an awesome place to get fit and has several hills of 10% plus grades to walk and run. It is well kept and it shows the seasons beautifully with its share of flowers and berries and bunnies. I run and or walk it every chance I get.

Finish It!
Mar 2019 • Solo
The fact that there is a large section of non-trail (streets or walking-oriented sidewalks) that must be crossed to complete the trail from top to bottom is just a shame. It also is a shame that the trail does not go all the way to the Narrows Bridge. Finish it, Gig Harbor!
We should be able to ride all the way to Tacoma and beyond!

Paved for whatever mode of transport you desire!

The Cushman Trail has been used many times by family, either walking or biking. We have spent some nice family time and put in the miles on this paved trail through Gig Harbor. Very nicely done and connects you with major store/shopping areas with nature in between.
