The actual visitor Center was closed due to the Covid 19 , but there was a ranger stationed outside at a table to answer questions and give direction. The gift shop set up in a trailer next to the visitor center. Still a great place to stop before heading up to the Johnston Observatory.

My first stop towards the great mountain. Very informative. I'm glad we stopped here first. Learned a lot about this great and historical tragedy.

The visitor center is not far off of I-5 on hwy 504. Located in a beautiful building that has an impressive view of Mt St Helens off in the distance. There are timelines with, in some cases second by second explanations of what happened during this eruption and also a movie of the eruption and devastation. Something to keep in mind: The actual mountain itself, if you want a closeup or to hike is about 40 more miles up the road and you have no choice but to use the same road going up as back down to the freeway. Highly Recommended!

We were there on a Tuesday and it was closed so check when it’s open before you go. We still were able to get a good view of Mt St Helens and took some great pictures with lake. Nice boardwalk around lake area (easy walk <mile). Lots of birds, frogs and other wildlife.

We brought friends from out of state. Nice scenic drive up to visitors center. The displays were much improved since last visit per our friend who has been there before. We all enjoyed the video show in the theatre. The pictorial review along the walls was a sad walk down memory lane for me. It brought it all back fresh like it happened yesterday. I want to come back and go higher up when the weather permits the roads to open so we can get a better view. All in all, very nice memorial.
