Shenandoah Caverns has been thrilling visitors since 1922. It is the only Virginia cavern with elevator service, making it one of the easiest caverns to tour. It's also the closest major cavern to I-81 (Exit 269). Our famous bacon formations are so unusual they were featured in National Geographic. Personally guided tours through our 17 soaring rooms take approximately one hour. Also see our other attractions: Main Street of Yesteryear, American Celebration on Parade (open seasonally), and the Yellow Barn. Open all year. Located 2 minutes from I-81, Exit 269, five miles north of New Market, VA in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Let the exploration begin! Please keep in mind that while Shenandoah Caverns does have an elevator, it is not considered handicap accessible. The pathway is crushed gravel with slight inclines throughout the tour, so assistance is required to navigate the tour via wheelchair. There is also one small portion that is not accessible by wheelchair at all. If you are walking the tour, you must be able to stand for one hour and walk one mile. If you have any questions about accessibility, please give us a call.

We were impressed with how different and beautiful this cavern was. We have been to many other caverns before, but this offered a very different view. The formations were beautiful. On our trip, we visited Luray and Great Caverns as well. All had a unique...More

It was nice that you don't have to walk the steps they have an elevator to take you down. The guide we had was very nice and the group we were with were all respectful. This cave is a very wet cave.

So these caverns are more touristy setup than most but that doesnt seem to take away from it. Theres a decent size gift shop when you walk in and a fairly small cafe for a basic grilled cheese and ham sandwich. Everyone there who helped...More

These caverns are not like Luray. It's a lot of bending over to get through the caverns cause some areas are small to get through it. School children where there on a field trip and made it look so easy getting through the caverns lol....More

A day trip out of the busy city to this magical underground splendor was well worth it. This cave is well maintained by staff and they are very knowledgeable about the history. Ladies!! Be aware that the humidity in the hair will have your hair...More

We choose this cavern out of all in the area because it had an elevator and my husband has back issues. It was a nice cavern and our group wasn't large which was a plus. Your guide was monotone in her delivery and not much...More

We thoroughly enjoyed this experience & loved the Caverns. The manager Willie is extremely helpful. The tour guide was explicit with her explanations & the lighting of the Caverns was extraordinary. Totally recommend these Caverns.
