The castle is only open to the public at special times of year but for the price of a pint the pub will let you in their beer garden and you'll have free reign of the castle.

Walked in took one breath of fhe chemically enhanced atmosphere and did a quick about turn. With an absolute fantastic historical pedigree this site needs some care and attention.

Lovely little place at the highest point in runcorn... beautiful ruins... #oldcastle drinks with friends... has a pool table... juke box... fruit machines.... amazing views...

Booked here on a spur of the moment, and so glad we did what a gem!! Hotel is full of character and the rooms are top notch. The bar and food are really good too, will most definitely return

such a lovely place with stunning views over runcorn. you can walk around the walls of the castle. there is also a lovely little pub next to it.x

We drink here regularly all year round and It's a great pub but it really comes into its own in the summer, the beer garden has literally got the best view in Runcorn.
