This charming village with its stone houses was a nice reward after a long winding drive along narrow mountain roads. We enjoyed strolling through the alleys and observing the buildings. Note that the drive here is not for the faint of heart since in many places the road winds along a precipice and is wide enough only for a single car. One needs to park at the designated parking lot outside the village.

All of the cliches about stepping back in time are actually true - we'd say perhaps 400 years or so? (The Mozarabic church is actually about 1000 years old...) We wandered around and above the village soaking up the mountain vistas for hours - above the village we gathered wild chestnuts, walnuts and apples, which were everywhere. The road into the village is a little wild - a narrow one lane for kilometres where you pray you don't meet a returning car (we met only one as we were off-season).

Nice village, called one of the "prettiest village in Spain". It is pretty indeed, but been familiar with the area, there are other villages as beautiful. I have to admit that the surroundings are a plus, but the downside is that it is very hard to get there, and it is hard to park. Need to visit? yes. It is much better than others? I'm not sure.

This village is so remote, if you make the trek to get here, you will be rewarded for your efforts mightily. This is by far one of the most unique places I’ve visited. The stone homes and streets are amazing. The views are incredible! The history of the village is fascinating. Besides the stone homes and streets that makes this place a spectacular sight, the church is another architectural delight. If you are ever in the region of Leon, this is a “must do”

It's a really romantic quaint old village in the mountains of Bierzo, old stone houses with little terraces or balcony in an ancient street and a very old church of the village, an antique gem, but surely difficult to leave there and of all in wintertimes; Nice for a visit in the mountains for a half day walk.
