This is a sandy beach and probably very popular in the summer season. In November it was almost deserted. We enjoyed seeing a Norwegian plane coming in for landing at the airport just round the headland. Then we went for a walk around the town...More

Well, when you don’t have many options you have to be happy with the only one lol but it’s far from be good one. It’s close to a harbour and there is no infrastructure at the place.

The weather in Funchal was heavy cloud and heavy rain...so it was lovely to arrive at this pretty sandy beach in glorious sunshine. It is a small bay just a couple of minutes walk away from the centre of Machico and quite self-contained, with wc...More

As Madeira is a volcanic island all sand on the beaches are black except of this beach which is golden. Sand in here was imported. It was nice to see a golden sandy beach in Madeira. There are free toilet facilities and a few cafes...More

The sand on this beach was imported because sand in Madeira, being volcanic, is unknown. Nice beach.

There is a small parking lot and good washrooms as you arrive at the beach. The old town is only a short walk away. The harbour is on one side.

One of the man made beaches on the island (so it’s sand). It’s a lovely beach to visit and great for kids.

Very sheltered sea bathing off a clean sandy beach. Changing facilities are available and showers to wash sandy feet.

Hi, you will probably find taxis as you get off the ships gangway (as we did!). There are dozens of taxis as you leave the harbour and the trip takes around 25 mins but sorry, can't remember the cost. Hope that helps.
