An interesting church, worthwhile for its architecture in Trulli. The interior is also worth a glimpse.

We ducked into St. Anthony of Padua Church when a sudden rain shower interrupted our visit to see the Trulli's in Alberobello. Dry and sheltered from the rain we were able to explore the small and simple church with its lovely arched altar apse. I was attracted to the small window box statues depicting scenes from St Anthony's life. This church is worth a short visit - rain or shine.

We walked uphill to visit this church. The outside is stark white with domes similar to the Trulli houses. Inside the architecture is very simple, but there is a beautiful fresco behind the main altar which depicts the tree of life and a beautiful crucifix. In a niche on the side wall there is a wonderful statue of St Anthony.

The extent of the ooh factor is really seeing the trullo roof to this tall church. Inside it’s quite simple as Catholic churches go.

An interesting little church. Worth visiting for as the only trulli church it is interesting and different. It is a short walk from the main street and only requires a few minutes. Recommended.
