My curiosity for this house or even Salers was triggered by its name: House of the Templars. I learned that the 15th century house has actually very little to do with the legendary Order of the Templars, a Catholic military order that existed during the 12th and 13th centuries. Some hospitaller knights of Malta (another order) seem to have sought shelter here during medieval times, but very little is known about them. Anyway an interesting historic house (three floors!) dating from the 1400s with a nice collection of items showing traditional life (including cheese processing, a pharmacy and architecture) in the Cantal region.

Salers is a beautiful Cantal
Village and since you decided to explore its rocky streets, you might as well visit the museum. It is basically like a historical museum of the whole village, of the Salers cows and cheese making traditions. It also has an old pharmacy and an interesting musical instruments collection

This is a small Museum in a historical building in the heart of the Old Salers.
Each room focuses on a different aspect of the local culture.
Do not miss the pharmacy on the ground floor.
