It is a good 1-2 hr visit. Easy to get in and out. No cost to visit. If you have kids with you, there are no specific activities for them, which you may have expected. History is nicely woven in to the exhibits.

The history of firearms parallels human history and it is well represented here. From the creation of gunpowder to modern sporting arms you'll see it all here. Well represented and explained. I especially enjoyed the arms of Presidents, heroes and patriots. A fascinating look at...More

What a fabulous little museum. During the weekdays they offer a free tour at 1pm that is worth it. It was almost two hours long and didn't begin to touch all the contents of the museum. The tour covers most the the highlights and the...More

Incredible selection of guns from earliest to most modern. Fantastic journey through history. The 'Guns of Hollywood' exhibit is the best.

Overall I was impressed with the museum. While it is a bit confusingly laid out (we were not sure where to start and there wasn't a logical flow to the exhibits), there are some amazing exhibits here. We particularly enjoyed the Vietnam and WWII exhibits,...More

I would recommend calling the headquarters for best directions as it is outside of DC in Fairfax, VA and I am not sure there is a close Metro station: (703) 267-1600. They should be able to assist you best.
