We booked the half day morning downhill cycle, and were picked up right outside our hotel by the Guide for the day (Ian) super friendly and enthusiastic right from the start!
Taken to a quiet road to practice the bikes, they also check your speed/ability so they can set you off in small groups on the hills. Excellent job of setting up the bikes, and provided with free water during the day which was a bonus!
After they check your safety and give you a briefing we drove up to the hills, Ian told us all about the area, history and loads of info on the way up. And then we got to the hills and started our downhill cycle.
The roads were fab, they tell you you can go any speed, and we set off in the front faster group, i had to actually slow myself down to enjoy the views!! Which were spectacular. So much to see and the fresh air was fab after coming from a busy resort.
There was some small uphill/pedals required parts on the course which I thought some of the older participants might struggle with, but everyone got back having done the whole cycle, so I guess if you just take it at your own pace then it's pretty much accessible for everyone!
Ended the ride at a little dam with a bar in a small shack! Very rural and quaint, excellent gin! Take some money with you if you want a snack there, ice cream, drinks, crisps etc. And the guides will sell you some local sugar coated hazlenuts which are amazing!
$20 to buy the usb stick with photos from the day on it, we didn't buy this as we had a lot of our own pictures we'd taken during the day.
Overall an excellent day out one of our favourite things about the holiday!
