Great price, quite visit with theater museum
Sep 2020 • Couples
The location is easy to get to with a very quiet city surrounding. For 2.50€, you can visit both museums with one being a theater museum. Right now there are corona restrictions on some of the old books but the place is worth the visit.

A very beautiful castle. Many parts are ruins now. In the buildings you can visit a quite interesting museum.

The castle is very well kept up and a great example of castle life of the time. The museum inside is excellent.

Nice example of a castle without an uphill walk
Jul 2018 • Couples
Hellenstein castle is easily accessible from both parking close to the entrance and a parking garage used for special events. Drive right up to the castle entrance first to look for free parking. There is a small museum and several courtyards. Also a nice walking trail nearby. Allow 30 to 90 minutes to explore this castle. If you are a Fußball fan, the FC Heidenheim stadium and gift shop is nearby.

Must visit when in Heidenheim
Jul 2017
Best view of Heidenheim is from this castle. You can have a view of Heidenheim in all directions.
Visit to the Museum is a must. Surprisingly the Museum holds a good collection of Indian exhibition pieces.

A favorite!
Apr 2017 • Family
Such a wonderful castle! Be sure to see both museums, the castle itself with armor and the chapel but also the Coaches, Carriages and Carts (Chaisen) Museum. Wonderful views from castle hill of the Hauptstraße and city below. Walk around on the many paths and even take the stairway down passed the Heidenschmiede. My favorite castle to visit.

Top of Heidenheim
Dec 2016
We visited during winter. Still the mountain hike was very interesting. You can go by a vehicle of you can climb the mountain through stares. Surrounding was very nice with very lite snow. trees were white. You can see the whole city from the castle. There is a historic value but unfortunately the Museum was closed during winter.

Visited to see the opera
Jul 2016 • Couples
We went to see a opera performance outdoors at the castle. Beautiful venue, helpful staff. Get there early, as parking can be a nightmare when many other events are happening as well. Be prepared to walk 10-15 minutes to the venue of you don't arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance.

Beautiful view
Oct 2015 • Family
A short climb up the hill to a well preserved ruin. Beautiful view over the town of Heidenheim. A sunny day in autumn is probably an added attraction. The Schloss also has two museums which are well worth a visit. One has old carriages from all levels of society and the other specialises in religious artifacts and neolithic tools.

Beautiful Building
Dec 2014 • Couples
The Schloss/Castle is perched on a hill overlooking the city of Heidenheim. It has varying styles of architecture, some ruins. Worth the walk up the hill to enjoy.
