We've been to CAT a few times over the years and always enjoyed it. There's a lot of information on environmentally sustainable living and displays that our 9 year old found very interesting - particularly the interactive exhibits on renewable energy.

I had no idea what to expect at CAT before our visit. Certainly, I didn’t realise our accommodation in the WISE building would be so on-site. This made for a perfect holiday setting. The twin room was spacious, comfortable and clean. There was an en-suite...More

This was our second visit to CAT - after a break of 14 years! They’ve definitely moved on a bit and are now focussing on more pragmatic and achievable ways of living more sustainably, rather than the somewhat idealistic and almost evangelical stance from 2004....More

Recently my eighty six year old husband and I visited CAT once again. We first came in very early days when the Centre For Alternative Technology was in its infancy, little more than a compost toilet and a few huts really, although it was a...More

The Centre for Alternative Technology must have been a total inspiration when it was created 40 years ago. Today however the Centre is dated but still provides information on Alternative Technology that we are all too familiar with - more recycling, better insulated housing, greater...More

I have very mixed feelings about the cabin. The cabin itself was run down and not very clean - we had to wash all the cutlery before we used it and there were mushrooms in the shower. The shower pressure was very weak so it...More

All of the interactive exhibits are incredibly old, or don't work. Could do with an update. The gardens are interesting, cafe food is excellent and the cliff train is fascinating
