An autumnal walk along the pathway ( lots of cow poo), staring out towards the mudflats where all the action is. Probably too early for the winter migrant waders. I would hope that the new ( to me) fresh water pond will be used by...More

This is a belated review that my brother and I went on earlier in the year when we were visiting the area. I'd seen on the RSPB Scotland website that they did organised tours of this site so I emailed beforehand and was told to...More

I was recommended this amazing place while staying at the nearby Glaisnock House B&B. only a couple of minutes from Wigtown, you feel you could be in a dark flung piece of undiscovered earth. Fabulous to unwind

Although we only made a quick visit to this reserve it has beautiful views of the bay. We sat in the little picnic area and had our lunch. Very peaceful. We will have to return another time to walk the trails.

We came across this by chance.. At Wigtown Bay, which includes the estuaries of the Rivers Cree and Bladnoch. The site is protected for its mudflats & salt marshes habitats that are home to several thousand geese in winter months. There are now 2 bird...More

Called back at this super little reserve to get a sight of some geese and swans - brilliant! As well as seeing 50 Hooper swans we were also entertained by a huge flock of golden plover as well as a little starling murmuration. There has...More

Called back at this lovely little sight over the summer and it was very different, the geese of course had moved on weeks ago but in their place we saw loads of wheatears and pipits. The sky was alive with the song of skylarks and...More
