Visiting a book shop is always a pleasure and on the face of it this was too. A lovely premises with a great selection of books to spend an hour browsing. The female behind the counter ignored the pleasantries normally afforded to another human being...More

Large selection of books in multiple nooks and crannies but many expensive for what they are.. The shop was cold and some or the books felt damp. Wigtown itself was like a ghost town with only 6 bookshops open in October. I'm sure it's good...More

I found great books on Scotland and on Dumfries and Galloway in particular. A great local bookstore has the personality of its owner on display, and Shaun clearly has a big personality. I could have spent many, many hours here.

A gem of a place with so many nooks and crannies filled with books, you'd probably find something new in each visit. Particularly liked the reading snug up a ladder, and the oddities on the walls and the ceilings.

Purportedly the biggest used bookshop in the UK. Clearly the biggest in Wigtown and probably the best. Strong in nonfiction. Fiction offerings not large. Large Scottish room in back provides tons of books on Scotland and is excellent. Whole stack of Irish books near entrance...More

I first found out about this shop when I read Shaun's book. It was so endearing that I wanted to come and visit, so did. Even better seeing the shop than reading about it, Shaun was a lovely person, who is doing a huge amount...More
