The audio tour of this castle makes the experience very worthwhile. The self-guided audio tour allows you to move at your own pace, and choose to hear more about each room, and the history behind it. The staff is very knowledgeable about the Braemar area...More

It was a long and winding road to get there as one traverses the hills of the Cairngorms but the scenery on the drive was beautiful. The castle itself was intriguing with much of interest to see There were headphones which relayed the history of...More

This is an interesting view into local history, with many artifacts and photographs. A typical castle site.

It’s not one of the biggest or grandest castles, almost the size of a large keep. It has about 12 rooms that are restored to a really interesting condition. It’s more like a look back to the 1950’s than a real look back in history,...More

Love going here. You can wander about at your leisure and enjoy every second of this adventure into the past. It’s so quiet when there’s no one around. Feels like you’ve gone back in time.

Wonderful that you feel that way. The Castle sits in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, 50 miles from the nearest city. This remoteness does give a very special sense of peace.

We knew nothing about this attraction before visiting. The tour was a huge and brilliant surprise. If in Braemar this is an absolute must.

Delighted you found it interesting and informative. It is wee but has a lot of history to enjoy! It was built in 1628 for the 2nd Earl of Mar to party in after the hunt and it's still great for partying!

Hopefully, in the not tooo distant future, all these will be provided and it will be a better experience for anyone with restricted mobility. We continue to fund-raise to make this all happen. Half a million down, another couple to go!

I’m quite certain you don’t have to pay if you don’t go inside. The grounds are not gated so you could have a nice roam around easily.
