With its old church, great wildlife and fabulous views, Balnakeil Bay is rather lovely. Add the stunning sandy beach and bright blue sea and it all becomes rather special.

We visited the old church and graveyard then went for a walk along the beach to the RAF control tower. Lovely hidden coves and beaches with amazing views.

Just park your car near the golf are and wander off, along the beach and back via the moorlands or vice versa. From Balnakeil Bay you can have some wonderful sunsets.

A fantastic walk in a beautiful location. Watched sand martins, gannets, golden eagle, black cows on the beach! Wild flowers beautiful.

Great beach and walk but beware of changing conditions -particularly wind which can make return journey a lot longer. You might also meet the resident cattle who appear prone to a wander along the beach of an afternoon - quite surreal!

Windforce 7 and just 12 degrees, but we had a wonderful (and frequently sunny) time exploring beach and wildlife.

Just nature at its best. It’s a good job cameras are digital these days. A photographers dream. Perfect for walks with the pooch or just to blow away the cobwebs or walk off the Haggis 😜

We started at the church which was the burial site of the Highway Man. The beach is solid and stretched out. Then it lifts into sand dunes with remarkable views. Good place to stretch your legs and take pictures.

Such a beautiful beach - we were mesmerised by the setting sun and cormorants dipping into the waves. Such gorgeous sand dunes and silver sand
