Great beach and walk but beware of changing conditions -particularly wind which can make return journey a lot longer. You might also meet the resident cattle who appear prone to a wander along the beach of an afternoon - quite surreal!

Just nature at its best. It’s a good job cameras are digital these days. A photographers dream. Perfect for walks with the pooch or just to blow away the cobwebs or walk off the Haggis 😜

The Balnakeil Bay is just fantastic, especially good weather which we had when we recently walked the coastal path there. We walked from Durness via the Aodann Path and then round the bay and continued along the cliff top path with wonderful views out over...More

We started at the church which was the burial site of the Highway Man. The beach is solid and stretched out. Then it lifts into sand dunes with remarkable views. Good place to stretch your legs and take pictures.

Such a beautiful beach - we were mesmerised by the setting sun and cormorants dipping into the waves. Such gorgeous sand dunes and silver sand

Beautiful beach...but very, very windy and water is COLD. Saw dad teaching small boy to surf...brrrr. Lovely ruin of church and cemetery next to beach.

Cannot miss this place on a visit to Durness, only a short drive towards the golf course. Parking for a couple of dozen cars and if your lucky enough room for a motorhome. Don't miss a visit to the graveyard, lots of interesting graves even...More

This stunning beach is one of the most beautiful of all the lovely beaches on this coast of Scotland. It is only a short diversion from the main road, near the craft village and is well worth visiting

Two long, sandy beaches await at Balnakiel Bay. The second beach is a 10-15 minute walk but is worth every step, simply stunning. Catch it when the sun is shining and you could be anywhere, white sand and a turquoise sea, beautiful 👍🏻
