About
Open from May to August, we provide a guided tour of this 5,000 year old Neolithic Tomb. The tour is an experience unlike any other in Orkney today because it still contains human remains. Tours take approximately 45 minutes.

My wife and I arrived in time for lunch, and what a good lunch it was. I am a coeliac on a strict gluten free diet and my wife is a vegetarian. The owner and her staff could not have been more interested or helpful...More

Lovely guide, it was a bit disconcerting to be looking at bones outwith the burial though. They really should be replaced.

What made this stand out was the excellent talk by Chris the guide which made it all come to life. Much better than the interpretation boards you get at other sites like this.

Although it doesn’t look like much this tomb is worth seeing. The tomb was discovered fairly recently in 2009 and research is still being carried out but it is potentially one of the significant Neolithic sites on Orkney. It’s a shame that the owner doesn’t...More

I stayed in the cottage for a week with some friends, and had a great time. The cottage was homey, the bistro has great food, and the tomb was the highlight of my visit. The week we were there, a lady came to see the...More

I arrived late having missed the last official tour of the day. However, a young girl working in the restaurant went to check with the guide whether or not I would be able to join just for the tour of the tomb and miss the...More

Tours limited to 2/3 people at a time as this is the most who can squeeze into the "open" part of the tomb as the remainder is still "occupied" . So very much work in progress with a few artifacts which may be handled. Our...More
