Worth the walk to go inside the lighthouse but check opening times as only open 3 days a week. Go before end of September to see the lamps and lenses in situ before they are replaced by led lights over the winter. Very informative guide...More

pleasant walk along the dunes to reach this distinctive vertically striped lighthouse. Great views across the water where the Atlantic meets the North Sea. Very lonely and beautiful.

Do not miss this off your trip. It's a stunning place and the views are just amazing. Sanday itself is a lovely island; very much recommended.

This light house is some distance form where you can now park as some of the approach road has been undercut by the sea. On the day we visited, we got our timing wrong and the tide was not suitable for us to get close...More
