Mystical place, better than Stonehenge. Also the (burial) hills are nice. The site is easy accessible though the soil/peat was quite wet.

You wouldn’t see much due to there just being rocks in a circle but despite them being there for a long amount of years is quite interesting, good tourist attraction

I first learned about the Ring of Brodgar and Orkney in a movie series by BBC. It was "Oliver's Travels", which fulfills itself in Orkney. Orkney is not just history, but a history of humanity over 12,000 years and it does not stop there as...More

This area in Orkney is one of the best places to experience the ancient rings that are all over Scotland. The Ring of Brodgar is spectacular esp when you walk to it from the Stones of Stenness.

Although there are only about one quarter of the stones remaining from the original total, it is still amazing. This Neolithic Henge and stone circle is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site. Imagine standing on a site over 5000 years old. Next to the...More

If there was ever a place to make you feel small and stand in wonder, this is it. The circle itself is massive and the stones that make it up are not small either. I didn't expect it to be this big and pictures certainly...More

When we were here 14 years ago I would have rated the Ring of Brodgar 5 stars. Nowadays with the cruiseships and the touringcars it is too busy during the day. Because of all the tourists the paths in between the stones are closed now...More

The astounding neolithic stone circle 100 metres in diameter is most impressive. The story boards are very helpful. All around is glorious Orkney landscape.

Who knew that this area was the center of civilization 5000 years ago? They spent a huge amount of effort to move these rocks into here, and then erecting them so well that they are still there. This was important to a lot of people...More
