Unplanned visit in sunny day. We traveled by car, the road is very narrow but the landscape is beautiful. No car park (off-road parking). No entry fee. Perfect for a picnic day on the back of the castle facing the river Tyne.

You will pass this castle if you take the lovely walk along the River Tyne from Haddington to East Linton. The ruins are very impressive and quite atmospheric. It is strange to come across them out apparently in the middle of nowhere.
