We absolutely loved this place. What a slice of history. It needs a bit of imagination but we had a lovely walk all round here and really enjoyed the balance between a site of historic interest and current wildlife haven. Brilliant.....and free.

This very interesting historical site was right at the start of our walk around Portland - it is well worth taking some time out if you are doing likewise to learn about its history and admire the engineering (as well as the views).

Poorly signposted, car park badly marked, but this is an atmospheric place even (maybe especially) in fog and cold. Whilst a fan of places not being overly supervised and managed, this fun and interesting London could have better information boards does around (there are one...More

Terrific views, good walks and some really interesting history. Lots of parking available. in the old quarry there is also lots of wildlife. But overall the plaques explaining the history of the battery really worth a visit.
