Not much to see when you are following the eastern side of the Isle of Portland coastal walk under the shadow of Portland prison. Interesting historical feature.

Absolutely fascinating - an old high angle (shoots shells in the air which then drop down - bang. Lovely place to wander through = not much shelter when wet though. Enjoy exploring the old tunnels and see how the shells were transported and loaded.

We absolutely loved this place. What a slice of history. It needs a bit of imagination but we had a lovely walk all round here and really enjoyed the balance between a site of historic interest and current wildlife haven. Brilliant.....and free.

This very interesting historical site was right at the start of our walk around Portland - it is well worth taking some time out if you are doing likewise to learn about its history and admire the engineering (as well as the views).

Tucked right away and not very welling posted but please do search out. Great piece of history and stunning scenery. There were a murder of cows when we went adding to the atmosphere. Great for history buffs, military and those in search of local sights

Poorly signposted, car park badly marked, but this is an atmospheric place even (maybe especially) in fog and cold. Whilst a fan of places not being overly supervised and managed, this fun and interesting London could have better information boards does around (there are one...More
