We diverted from our route along the SWCP to visit the village of Abbotsbury including this notable landmark. Whilst it added some distance to our long day’s walking (and more than necessary through my poor choice of route), it also added a lot of interest...More

This is a nice tranquil place on top of the hill. You can appreciate the monks for selecting this area for meditation. The chapel is open en some visitors placed a mini memory in some of the nishes. Especially interesting is the vaulted ceiling.

When I lived in Weymouth I regularly walked up to St Catherine's Chapel. I revisited last week. The views are, unsurprisingly, still spectacular, from Golden Cap to the West to Portland in the East. St Catherine is the patron saint of spinsters, so the inscription...More

Beautiful green pastures and amazing views of the coast on one side and village on the other. Access to the chapel is via a steep incline. Wear warm clothes as it can get windy. This is a must visit destination with peaceful calm and beautiful...More

What a lovely little gem. Bracing walk up, great views out to sea. We went on a very windy, muddy day so take wellies and wear a woolly hat!

Quite steep but short hill, worth the climb for fantastic views of the village, the whole length of Chesil Beach, the swannery and Portland. The Chapel provides an interesting focal point

Lovely 14th century chapel with breathtaking views in every direction. The walk is bit steep, but definitely worth it! We were alone in this historic gem.
