Interesting Historic Mill
Jul 2019 • Couples
Enjoyed seeing how a grist mill worked. Hard to imagine running this mill and what a hard job the workers had. I wish the lighting in the building had been a bit brighter, though!

This mill is now well labeled and was running well during our recent visit. It provides a good way to understand how water power can be put to good use.

Cool shops! SHOP LOCAL

Love the home-made feel of the upper mill shops. The outdoor store has great stuff if you're a hiker or camper. The Country Store has great and fun kitchy things to pick up and an old-fashioned appeal. Other shops available too. Stop by!

Fascinating look to the past

A self guided tour of the old mill works, is an interesting way to linger after a delicious meal at the adjacent cafe. Information signs explain both the history of the operation as well as the many sections and processes used in milling grains.

The place got potential but need some upgrade of the room so you can see and understand better whats happening. The mill is impressive but need more care.

Nice walk through history

We stopped at the Upper Mill and the free Waterwheel self guided tour. Interesting to see the waterwheel and mechanics - good signage explaining the history and how the waterwheel worked/works. It’s adjacent to shops and the Waterwheel cafe which we browsed. Well worth a stop.

Hidden history!!
Aug 2017 • Couples
On your own, view the mill that is still continuing to operate with a water wheel. It is unbelievable to watch this mechanism in action. Although no grain is involved anymore, the water wheel still runs perfectly. Our forefathers were ingenious! Go in and ask. You will be directed to the proper door, the you are on your own. Roam freely and go all the way to the top making sure you view all the hidden away rooms where you will view all the old milling machines.

Not open!

I went there at 11am on Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 and they had a sign posted that they opened at 1pm. Earlier every other day but 1pm on Wednesdays. Just my luck....I moved on to other adventures. Wish their website was working so I might have known that!

This wheel is huge
Jul 2017 • Couples
If you are into Mills, water wheels and history, this one is definitely worth checking out. It is a three story self-guided tour, not accessible for the handicapped. The wheel itself is still running, and it is the biggest wheel I have ever seen. Great photo ops. Just wish I could grasped the magnitude of the size of the wheel in pictures. Definitely one of our favorite stops in Milford.

Interesting mix of shops
Feb 2017 • Solo
Great place to look around. The dress shop always has fine stuff and has been a Milford staple. The country store, once it gets going in the summer is fun to browse and you never know what treasure you might find. The guitar store is electric guitars and you might find a classic here. All in all it's fun to walk through and browse and then head downstairs for desert. The mill exhibit is fun for children to see.
