What a delight!

Stopped in today while on holiday and we were so pleasantly surprised by this whole facility. Our lunch at the restaurant was beautiful, very affordable, fulfilling and the service was great. The farm and playground were both fun for the kids and very well kept. Make sure you read about “Our Story” before visiting as it makes this place even more special. Well done to all the staff - it is a terrific spot and we would highly recommend it to anyone.

Had a delicious lunch in the restaurant today after walking around the gift shop and farm produce and many different foods shop. The veggie stack was so yummy and also the pork roast the others had was so good.

Change is not always for the better

I visited Summerland Farm 5 years ago with a large group. It was a lovely place to visit back then with a nice cafe that served delicious morning/afternoon teas, a shop that sold local jams, vinegars, chutneys etc and a giftware shop. So I thought I'd revisit with my hubby since we were staying in nearby Lismore. What a disappointment!

It's now been renovated with a more modern look. For a small charge, there is a park for kids with animal encounters for an additional cost. The new look cafe was not inviting at all, nor was the small variety of food in the cabinet. To eat, you need to go outside (under cover) where there were only a couple of tables and an area with stools overlooking a garden. I asked for scones & was given 2 scones at the counter sitting in a cardboard tray with nothing else. Not even cutlery. I had to ask for jam & cream & was served miniscule amounts of both in a paper cup that was barely enough for one scone let alone two. The coffee was served in a cardboard cup and was so hot it could burn your mouth and it wasn't a nice flavour. To be fair, the pumpkin scones were very good.

The plants for sale were a fair price. The jams, vinegars etc were quite expensive (e.g. $19.90 for a bottle of balsamic vinegar). The giftware shop had some pretty things for sale at fair prices.

Basically, the atmosphere Summerland House once had is now gone. Unless you want to take kids to the park & see the animals, I wouldn't bother & would just venture to Alstonville itself for something to eat. An Alstonville local said this venue is trying to now cater for the wedding market. I hope this works for them as the venue I saw was very disappointing.

Hi Airlinegirl - we are sorry to hear you did not enjoy your recent visit to Summerland Farm. Our new cafe near the Adventure playground is designed for visitors who want to grab a bite to eat before heading off into the playground. It is designed to be a take-away option and an addition to our licensed Restaurant on site which is still serving a great range of popular delicious meals with plenty of dining and seating options. Thank you for your feedback. We do hope you are able to visit again and enjoy our dine in restaurant options on your next visit :)

Wonderful family outing
Apr 2021
We went to the restaurant on Anzac Day 2021. It was fully booked and busy. We found the meal options very enticing and covering all preferences. The food was fresh and delicious. The prices were reasonable. The staff were great. We will return soon.

Great experience
Apr 2021
Ours was an impulse visit, we were intrigued by the signs so decided to investigate. This is a working avocado and macadamia farm which gives the opportunity for people with disabilities to make the most of their abilities. Talking to the ladies in the gift shop, who are volunteers, there are currently 100 people with disabilities working on the farm and listening to conversations with the workers they fill in at various roles around the farm. There is a large gist shop and another section is dedicated to fresh and local produce. There is also a coffee shop and small cafe. Outside there is a children's playground and there are animal encounters held throughout the day.

"No dogs allowed on site"
Apr 2021 • Couples
Warning FARM IS NOT DOG FRIENDLY. Unlike other farms, and contrary to previous reviews "dogs are not allowed on site" due to "OHS" reasons, including eating area.

Food is fine, prices are high, it's just a commercialised petting zoo, good for children but not much else.

Hi Skyelinewx - we're sorry to hear you were disappointed that no dogs were allowed. We have a number of animals on site, including our happy chickens, and as many visitors would appreciate, other animals on site can pose a risk to their safety and comfort. We apologise if this was an inconvenience for you.

Not worth the hassle

No chairs so where do the elderly sit
no balloons for children birthday
no understanding staff only interested in money and wrist bands
So much for the tradition of house with no steps, that is no barriers thoughtfulness for all

Would not come back

Hi Escape752138 - thank you for your feedback. We have plenty of seating in our restaurant area including airconditioned and alfresco dining options overlooking the playground and beautiful tropical gardens. Our new Adventure Playground area is awaiting a delayed order for additional chairs and tables - we can't wait! We do understand your concern about restrictions on balloons. Balloons and decorations are unfortunately viewed as an environmental risk. Our animals and fauna on site are valued and protected. We apologise if this caused you any inconvenience during your visit.

We thought it was a treasure

Was recommended by a local otherwise we would not have visited.

Great grounds with an excellent water playground for the kids.

Standard of the buildings and finishes was 'gold standard', great workmanship.

Staff are excellent and so friendly.

Didn't go to the restaurant but the café was more than sufficient.

Entry price is ridiculously low.

I have been here a few times and always great. Lovely gardens and outlook.
We had a catered picnic in the gardens in summer and it was lovely, food was all delicious and the set up was gorgeous. Will definitely go back for this again.
The cafe is also very good. Yummy scones and good coffee.
