Footsteps of Discovery has an excellent set up and top class instructors. My 10 year old daughter had the best COVID birthday experience, out in the fresh air. They learnt how to work as a team, some navigation and listening skills.

Best kids party ever!! Forget soft play and trampoline parks, this is what kids love!! Fire, the outdoors and axe throwing! 10-3 and worth every penny! All the kids left exhausted and full of tales.

For security reasons I cannot divulge to many details concerning these exemplary highly professional instructors . Just read their impressive list of clients to see why . Their gentle encouraging training builds confidence in all the many different skills for which you can select , nervous at first I improved upon skills taught , honed my knowledge and, indeed , learnt a great deal from them . Principally dealt with Hammy and Leon ,real gentlemen . Shall highly recommend to others . Shall now venture into the unknown , with extreme confidence , thank you .

Amazing facility, my 11 year old grandson in his element. Lighting fires using knives generally a happy fun healthy boys own experience. Well done guys.

I took a School trip consisting of 30 pupils for an overnight survival training exercise in Nantillio Woods. We had a fantastic time. The staff are good fun, knowledgeable and enthusiastic and my group of 15 and 16 year olds were kept busy from the word go. They enjoyed every minute of it despite some pretty dreadful weather. I have used Footsteps for several school trips now and will definitely use them again. I cannot recommend them more highly. SUPERB.

Amazing place for youngsters. Safe fire lighting, whittling carving, map reading many events. Plenty to keep youngsters and parents occupied. Camping was comfortable, although as it was a survival weekend, definitely not glamping!!
No moans of I'm bored!! In fact youngster wanted to go back again. Fantastic, thank you.

What a place. What an experience. We learnt more ways to make fire than I ever thought were possible. Then we spent the day making traps, shelters, learning the ebb and flow of nature and how to survive using only a dead rabbit, a knife, and the clothes on your back.
The night was spent sleeping in shifts, feeding the fire, cooking our bush tucker, and gibbering cold. And come the morning, we woke bright eyed and bushy tailed, with a keener appreciation of the world around us, ready to survive and thrive in any conditions* nature may throw at us.
The only way this experience could be improved would be if they would teach us how to deal with multiple jellyfish stings to the face and neck, using only the nearest Spice Girl and a litre of drinking water.
*(provided the conditions are a well sheltered temperate woodblock)

My son had his 11th birthday party today here and I can't recommend it enough. We made little fires, big fires, team games, ate burgers and sausages over an open fire and finished with catapult tin can alley. All the children worked co-operatively and loved every minute. As soon as we came home, my son was googling how he could purchase bushcraft items learnt from today!

My wife and I attended the 'Army Benevolent Fund' charity day, not knowing what to expect. We were greeted by a small band of ex-forces guys who made us most welcome and at ease from the very first moment ( thanks Hammy and Spanner). We were then introduced to axe and knife throwing ! The wife won !, then followed onto all types of fire lighting, some we had never heard of, which was great fun and very interesting, I even managed to light a fire by the bow drill method first time thanks to Leon's excellent teaching. This all followed onto other bush crafts. Preparing fresh game (rabbit) for the pot, then using a knife safely, using a blow pipe and much more. You choose what you want to get involved in. Others who had arrived with children also got stuck in and appeared to be having an amazing time. We were there for just over 6 hours but it went so quickly. The weather was heavy scattered showers but that made no difference to our enjoyment as there was an open fire and plenty of shelters. Tea, coffee and hot food if you wanted.
All in, it was a great experience and a fantastic day. You don't need to be a Rambo type person to enjoy this place. There is something for everyone.
So thanks again to Spanner, Hammy, Leon and all the others, sorry if I can't remember all the names but as a team you did a great job.
We will be back.
