Brewery Tour
Nov 2021 • Couples
Had a great afternoon on the Brewery Tour, led by an excellent host Keagan who made the tour informative but very enjoyable. Great value too, tour lasted well over an hour and a half, and we tasted 9 different beers at the end.

Who doesn’t like a brewery shop and tap room.
Sep 2021 • Couples
Hicks Bar is the tap room for the St Austell brewery and is located above the brewery shop in the visitor centre. It’s open every day except Sunday and is more of a lunch time venue as it shuts by 5.30pm most days.
The main bar room has a modern decor with brewery paraphernalia and pub signs around the walls, and then there is a larger room beyond which has large internal glass windows overlooking a section of the brewing plant.
Decent food menu available but the main draw is obviously the beer and most of the St Austell range was available on the bar. I went for a paddle of their Big Job, Mena DHU stout and the Proper Black, black IPA, which convinced me to pick up some bottles of these from the shop below.
Prices in the shop were reasonable, but you can still pick up Proper Job and Tribute cheaper in the Supermarkets, so swerve these and go for the things that you don’t see in the shops, such as Big Job and their dark beers.

Interesting tour
Nov 2021 • Friends
We were a group of four mature adults. We had a very good tour of the brewery at the 2.00pm slot. Keagan was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the beers and history. Even a fire alarm evacuation didn't put him off!
We learnt a lot about the brewing process and had samples and a free bottle of beer. (It would be a nice touch if you supplied some nibbles whilst sampling the beers).
The brewery has ample parking, a restaurant and bar and a good sized shop.
We will be recommending it to friends.

Brewery tours are back on and better than ever
Nov 2021
We decided to take full advantage of the brewery tour that has recently resumed after an extended covid lockdown...so glad that we did. The tour was an in depth look at not only the history of the St Austell brewery, but also the science behind the manufacturing and bottling process which then finishes with a beer sampling in the Hicks Bar. Our tour guide was Kegan who was extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our brew queries. After the tour, we were able to enjoy a lovely meal in the restaurant. Even if you have been in the past, it is well worth a second visit.

Great few hours looking around the brewery!

Great tour around the brewery with Keegan and Ollie. Very educational without it seeming as if they were reading from a script.
Great amount of tasting to give a wide variety of their ales!

Perfect Customer Service!
Oct 2021 • Family
I came to this brewery with my family for a simple lunch expecting a fairly standard eating experience but I was pleasantly surprised at the amazing customer service and overall quality of the food. The food was an easy 10/10 and the wait was short although there wasn't too much to choose from yet what they did serve was of perfect quality and I would highly recommend to others passingby even if its for those that just want to eat out. However, My daughter did have a slightly undercooked burger. Nothing too bad but she is a fussy eater so it was enough to put her off of eating it. What I didn't expect was for our waiter to get her a new freshly cooked burger and also provide us with a full refund AS WELL as complimentary hot chocolates! That is customer service that deserves to be awarded, I had already planned to award the place with a good review before but that easily guaranteed it. I highly recommend anyone in the local area to check this place out!

Tasting session
Oct 2021 • Couples
We booked on a tasting session as the brewery tour wasn’t available. Proper job is my husbands favourite beer and because it’s his birthday this week we travelled for a 5 day stay and to visit the brewery. The staff are great and very welcoming from someone who’s in a similar industry I highly recommend a trip here. We will be back and would go just for a drink when in the area. They could charge double and it still be worth booking a tasting!
