A fascinating building with an amazing history. The tour, which begins in the basement, is audio self-guided. The handset is user friendly and you can move from floor to floor in a lift. It took us about 80 minutes to complete the tour. The staff...More

The visit to Staircase House proved a brilliant experience for my family from Stockport and American friend. We all enjoyed the portable audio tour commentary and in parts very funny making it more enjoyable. Being from Stockport we learnt so much of our towns history....More

Was a great little trip for myself and my 8 yr old son. Takes about an hour. Not sure how great it would be for buggies or wheelchairs.

Hi MissChief, thank you for the review :-D the House is fully accessible for buggies and wheelchairs with a lift available and accessible toilets. there are two routes through the House (both see all the same rooms) one of which avoids the stairs Thanks

You will never have visited a museum like this. From medieval times, through Georgian and Victorian, plus there's a free Stockport Story Museum to visit next door, so it's excellent value and a great way to entertain children of 7-12 - and their parents. Please...More

This is a guided tour using audio equipment making it interesting, the contents of the rooms are replica and they encourage you to touch them. There is a lift or it’s a lot of stairs, you need also to be aware that the floors are...More

Thank you Caroline :-D we like our wonky floors too - shows the age of the House. If the House is busy you could always visit the free Museum on the same site for a while and come back to the House later
