    Great night out
In the past month we have visited this venue twice and on each occasion we have thoroughly enjoyed our visits and the shows that we attended. The seating is old school but we really liked that and it was a comfortable relaxed fell in a very grand old building. The staff were very welcoming and we parked just round the corner at the Rock which makes the venue easy to visit for all ages. Parking cost about £4 per visit. On the two occasions we visited were on very hot days and the only negative was the bar area and toilets were very warm which made queuing at the bar very uncomfortable. On the whole a very good experience.

    Great Night
Went to a Murder Mystery Night - Had a great time , well organised .The Plaza Players who took part in the event were very good . The evening is partly spent in the theater and then the Plaza Cafe .The numbers are limited so you will need to book as soon as the event is advertised . It's a great chance to see if you can solve the murder . I would definitely recommend , hoping to attend another event in January 2024.

Great venue but definitely missing a trick with drinks...
Fantastic visit for the Burlesque Show! Something we've not been to before but really enjoyed. Seats, show & atmosphere were great- looked like it was sold out. Only letdown were the massive queues for the bar which we tried twice to get to & got nowhere near. Lots of people sat near us wanted drinks but could be heard saying not even worth trying. Ice cream sold at the interval at the side of the aisles however any reason this could not include soft drinks or bottles of water which a good percentage of the audience wanted? Massive amount of lost revenue.

    Magical valentine treat
Wonderful valentine matinee of a golden oldie movie with champagne. It is my husbands birthday on valentines so this wad a special treat and an absolute joy! The plaza interior is stunning and to hear the Compton organ playing as we walked in was magical, it actually brought a tear to our eyes. Huge thanks to the volunteers and amazing organist for such an amazing day. We had no idea that things are still dine the old fashioned way with a pathe newsreel, icecream tubs at the interval. Fab-u-lous!

This wonderful theatre deserves a far better standard of panto. Peter Pan was poorly scripted and acted, with the exception of Smee, who saved the day. Largely rhyming, the words were largely beyond the understanding of young children. The sound was poor and voices hard to hear. Audience interaction was limited, and Captain Hook merely going through the motions and unconvincing. Part cabaret, part dated reproduction ,very little traditional panto, this production fell short on all counts. Any amateur theatre group could have done this. Smee was the sole enthusiastic player.
The Plaza is fantastic , but this is way below the standard expected at such a venue.

I love this venue, and the staff are always extremely helpful. Ample legroom in the stalls and a good view but ... today the pantomime Peter Pan was awful! We were regular attendees at Oldham Coliseum so have never 'gone for' big names, just a family fun experience. The sound wasn't great (apart from the orchestra) and we couldn't hear some lines, we were not that far away from the stage either. The first half didn't create any laughter and had minimal audience participation. Smee worked hard and was the only credible entertainer. We left in the interval because we were bored. I had high aspirations for this being our replacement pantomime venue but sadly it absolutely won't be! It's not put me off visiting The Plaza for other events but I am sad that today was a really big let-down and a huge disappointment! Entertainment it wasn't!

Theatre amazing. Organ fantastic. Good dancing.

BUT the sound was bad - tinny, hard to make out the lines (we were sat at the front). After 20+ years of going to fantastic panto at the Oldham Coliseum, thought we'd try Stockport, but afraid the panto was disappointing. Felt like they'd adapted a play script and tried to 'panto it up' with a few songs/throwing out sweets. Cast were largely unenthused/unfunny (except Smee - he carried it). Some long, pointless scenes (e.g. in the kids bedroom with the medicine/dog being banished). Some slow non-catchy songs left the kids bored. A karaoke of 'Sweet Caroline' apropos of nothing. No smutty panto jokes, but needlessly risque dancers costumes. We'll try elsewhere next year.

Mix up with tickets as we arrived and as a result we were shown to seats at the other side of where my family were all sitting, the box office had messed up and given me the wrong tickets, my sister had arrived ten minutes earlier and handed in our tickets, the woman told her she would show us down but that didn’t happen. I went and sat with family anyway because we had booked together and we settled to watch a great show… but this didn’t happen. The visit was for the Peter Pan Panto and I’m afraid apart from a few short sequences of fun singing and dancing it was too flat for the little children we had there… way too much talking, without atmosphere and it just wasn’t enough panto,. The characters weren’t great, not a lot of charisma or presence (apart from Smee- he was good) but the rest was dry, slow, several ballad type songs that little children do not warm to, instead of fun songs… there were a couple of bursts of this but this was a disappointment and we left earlier as the little ones were restless and bored. Others left too. Not a great show I’m afraid

We visited as a family for afternoon tea on my daughter’s birthday. When i rang to book and said it was her birthday they said they would have a card on the table . However when we arrived there was no card and no one at all acknowledged it was her birthday. I didn’t really have want to say anything to the staff as the moment had already passed and they wouldn’t have been able to go back in time. A real shame. The food was nice but I wouldn’t be bothered about going again really.
